Projects And Programs:
Wood And Pellet Stove Tax Credits

Premium efficiency wood and pellet stove tax credits are available through the Oregon Department of Energy's Residential Energy Tax Credit program. Woodstoves and pellet stoves have been added to the Department's list of qualifying appliances as an incentive for residents to replace old, dirty burning uncertified woodstoves with cleaner technology.

LRAPA encourages residents who have older woodstoves to take advantage of this program to upgrade to clean-burning pellet stoves or certified woodstoves. Stoves purchased on or after January 1, 2007, qualify under the program. However, some restrictions apply. See full program description.

Applying for the Tax Credit

You can obtain an application form from the Lane Regional Air Protection Agency ((541) 736-1056), the Oregon Department of Energy (1-800-221-8035), or by downloading the application form. Simply complete the form and return it as instructed to the Department of Energy with proof of purchase.

Fuel Tax Credit Available

The Oregon Department of Energy also offers a separate self-administered tax credit program called the Biofuels Consumer Income Tax Credit for the purchase of pellets and other renewable fuels at $10 per ton of fuel purchased. This tax credit is regulated by the Oregon Department of Revenue and is taken directly on state income tax forms. For more information, visit the Department of Energy's Web site.
